Book presentation: Commentary on the Citizenship Act

On 10th July 2017, the book presentation of Plunger/Esztegar/Eberwein [eds], Kommentar zum Staatsbürgerschaftsgesetz, took place at the Austrian Integration Fund. After the presentation of the commentary by the editors, attorney-at-law Balazs Esztegar, "Biber" editor Delna Antia and university teacher Dr. Gerhard Muzak from the University of Vienna discussed current issues of citizenship law under the moderation of journalist David Herrmann-Meng.

The commentary on the Citizenship Act jointly edited by Dr. Martin Plunger, Attorney-at-law Balazs Esztegar and Dr. Helgo Eberwein was published by Jan Sramek Verlag in April 2017. In cooperation with the Austrian Integration Fund, for which lawyer Balazs Esztegar is engaged as an honorary integration ambassador, the editors invited to a book presentation at the Vienna Integration Centre on 10th July 2017. The editors and the authors present were equally pleased about the great interest in the event.

The presentation of the book and its genesis as well as acknowledgements to all sides was followed by a panel discussion on current issues of citizenship law. Moderated by journalist David Herrmann-Meng, Balazs Esztegar as a lawyer specialising in citizenship law, Delna Antia, deputy editor-in-chief of "Biber" magazine, and associate professor Dr. Gerhard Muzak, Institute for Constitutional and Administrative Law at the University of Vienna, discussed, among other things, the acquisition and loss of citizenship. Current topics such as the admissibility of dual citizenship or the uninterrupted residence in Austria required for the granting of citizenship were discussed. In addition to the legal topics, Delna Antia also contributed very personal experiences as well as the results of her research work on the topic of "Second-generation migrants' sense of identity in Germany and Austria".

After the panel discussion, the discussants answered many questions from the interested audience and the evening ended with stimulating conversations at the buffet.
